IAPT Self-Referral

Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT)

The Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) service provides evidence-based psychological therapy to anyone over 18 (16-18 if no longer in full-time education) who is registered with a GP in York, Selby, Tadcaster and Easingwold. They work with people to overcome stress, anxiety and depression to enjoy and participate in life again. They have a team of qualified and experienced professionals specially chosen to work alongside your GP in venues across North Yorkshire. The IAPT team offers a range of support:

Guided self-help delivered by a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner
Using cognitive behavioural therapy treatments this could be an effective treatment option if you are struggling with mild to moderate common mental health problems. This could take place over the telephone, in groups or alongside a specific worker using workbooks and computer programmes to help you (your choice).

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy delivered by a High-Intensity Therapist
The therapist will work alongside you to help change unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaviours that are causing or maintaining current problems. This involves practical exercises or experiments worked on either with the therapist or as homework alone.
